No remodel is ever easy, but this one presented distinctive challenges - an untraceable type of block, tricky building codes, and a dilapidated structure. The basic re-planning satisfied not only functional requirements but created a dramatic flow of spaces, one into the next, and connected views through the house to the tree-filled site. The scale of the home is small, but that allows each room to have a well developed character.
